Secretary of the Russian Embassy for Afghanistan Mr. Alexi and his team accompanied by the Acting CEO of the ACCI Mr. Mirwais Hotak paid a visit to the Imam Abu Hanifa (RH) 2nd National and International Expo.

Mr. Hotak welcomed Mr. Alexi and his team to the Imam Abu Hanifa (RH) 2nd National and International Expo, showed them the different parts and stalls of the expo, and provided them with inclusive information about different participant sectors in the expo.

Mr. Alexi affirmed that the organization of the Imam Abu Hanifa (RH) 2nd National and International Expo is a significant achievement for the ACCI and such expos play a vital role in introducing the products of the participant companies, promoting trade with the countries of the region, and attracting external investment to Afghanistan.

In the end, ACCI’s chairman Mr. Tawakal Ahmadyar, and Mr. Zakareya Baryali member of the Board of Directors met with Mr. Alexi and his team and appreciated their participation in the expo.

The 12th meeting of the South and Southeast Asian Businessmen (Sichuan) was organized by the China International Trade Development Council in cooperation with the people of Sichuan Province and the SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Sichuan Province, China on July 3rd, 2023.
This gathering was attended by government and non-government representatives of South and Southeast Asian countries, prominent businessmen, and senior officials of China.

In this meeting, seminars on trade and investment opportunities, strengthening and development of trade relations, establishing a mechanism for the development of South and Southeast Asian relations, as well as regional developments were presented and comprehensive discussions were held.

Mr. Muhammad Yunus Mohmand Vice-Chairman of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment, who participated in this big meeting on behalf of the private sector of the country, gave a speech about the opportunities for trade and investment in Afghanistan and said " The presence of inclusive security in Afghanistan, the absence of corruption and poppy cultivation and a number of other issues are the issues that have created opportunities for business and investment in the country."

The Vice-Chairman of the ACCI described Afghanistan as a country of opportunities and explained the opportunities available in the fields of mining, agriculture, industry, construction, energy, communications, and health to the participants. Also, he encouraged the representatives of the participant countries to invest in the mentioned sectors, especially in energy production.

Mr. Mohmand considered the policy of the Afghan government to be based on the axis of friendship and goodwill, while supporting and welcoming trade and regional and non-regional interactions, he emphasized on the development of investment and trade relations between the South and Southeast countries.
Mr. Mohmand, while presenting detailed information about the holding of the second exhibition of Imam Abu Hanifah (R.A.), asked the countries participating in the 12th China Business Summit (Sichuan) to participate in this exhibition in 2023. It will be held on July 16th for 7 days, to participate and strengthen its business relations with the countries of the region.

On the sidelines of the above meeting, Mr. Mohmand visited China's largest electricity production company (Dongfang Electric International Corporation) inspected the power generation machines and techniques of the mentioned company, and assessed the installation of these items in Afghanistan.

He invited the officials of the mentioned company to participate in the national and international exhibition of Imam Abu Hanifa (R.H) and explain and display their products and capabilities.

Mr. Muhmand also met with the chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Investment of Chandwi province of China and discussed the bilateral cooperation between the Chamber of Commerce and Investment of Afghanistan and the mentioned chamber. The chairman of the Chindwai Chamber of Commerce and Investment emphasized bilateral cooperation and assured the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the two chambers.

ACCI’s Vice – Chairman Mr. Muhammad Younus Muhmand, Kandahar Chamber of Commerce and Investment (KCCI)’s president Mr. Muhammad Sediq Muhmand, ACCI’s senior counsellor Mr. Sharafuddin, and a number of traders and investors hosted Japan’s Acting Ambassador to Afghanistan Mr. Takashi Okada and discussed how to expand trade, enhance mutual investment, and providing Afghan traders with the required facilities.

Mr. Muhammad Sediq Muhmand besides welcoming Mr. Takashi Okada to KCCI, requested him to help provide Afghan traders with the required facilities and promote trade between Afghanistan and Japan.

Mr. Muhammad Younus Muhmand said, “Afghanistan has excellent economic and trade relations with Japan and we courteously request Japan’s Embassy for Afghanistan to provide Afghan traders with a comprehensive cooperation in regards to visa issuance.”

Mr. Younus Muhmand also said, “Enhanced security throughout the country, zero poppy cultivation, and no corruption in governmental organizations are key factors to encourage investors to invest in Afghanistan.”

Mr. Okada said, “Japan’s Embassy for Afghanistan is committed to dedicate a great deal of focus and time on how to promote mutual trade, address the challenges ahead of Afghan traders, and provide Afghans with the required facilities in visa issuance.”

As a result of the ACCI’s exemplary struggles and several meetings held between representatives of the Afghan Private Sector and the Ministry of Finance of the IEA about bringing amendments to the rules and regulations of taxation, IEA’s leadership endorsed a decree which shows a considerable concession in taxation for the Afghan Private Sector.

ACCI’s Vice-Chairman Mr. Muhammad Younus Muhmand, ACCI’s member of the Board of Directors Mr. Khan Jan Alokozay, ACCI’s Acting CEO Mr. Mirwais Hotak, presidents of different unions, and a number of traders through press conference, welcomes and acclaims IEA’s latest decree.

Mr. Muhmand said, “Paying tax helps the government to keep its stability and provide people with better services. We, therefore, request that traders and investors pay their taxes on due time and actively take part in the economic growth of the country.”
He, furthermore, said that a committee comprising the ACCI’s members and sectoral ministries of the IEA has been established which will provide the Afghan Private Sector with more amenities and facilities in paying their taxation.
 
Mr. Khan Jan Alokozay requested the industrialists and manufacturers to take advantage of the discount in taxation and strive to increase the quality of their products.
He also called upon the government to calculate the tax of the imported commodities only once in order to prevent more problems and waste of time.

International Labor Organization (ILO) organizes a tripartite gathering to celebrate the occasion of International Labor Day and World Day for Safety and Health at Work.
ACCI’s Acting CEO Mr. Mirwais Hotak and high-ranking officials of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs attended the gathering.

Mr. Hotak said, “International Labor Day and World Day for Safety and Health at Work are of the fundamental and strategic principles of the ILO and hold a great deal of significance.”
He also asserted that attending such gatherings is an excellent platform for sharing knowledge, networking, and promoting safety and health at work.

In addition, Mr. Hotak provided the participants with information about ACCI’s current projects as: providing small and medium entrepreneurs with the required consulting, manuals, and training, promoting safety and health at work, and help build the infrastructure to create more job opportunities.

Moreover, Mr. Hotak said that ACCI as a key and important counterpart of the ILO and Labors’ Union is committed to promoting safety and health at work which leads to safe working environment and economic growth as a whole.

ACCI’s Vice-Chairman Mr. Muhammad Younus Muhmand and ACCI’s Chief Executive Officer Mr. Mirwais Hotak met with Area Based Approach for Development Emergency Initiatives (ABADEI)’s manager Mr. Feroz Sayed Khawajyouf and discuss the existing challenges of the Afghan Private Sector and joint ventures.

Mr. Muhmand elaborated private sector’s obstacles and affirms an integral increase in Afghan exports and mine extraction. He also said that ABADEI’s officials can help sectors like construction, manufacturing, and women entrepreneurship grow and pave the way for trade promotion and the private sector’s growth.

Mr. Mirwais Hotak provided ABADEI’s officials with the activities and background of the ACCI and pointed to ABADEI’s cooperation as imperative in the implementation of the ACCI’s projects.
In addition, he requested the ABADEI to provide women entrepreneurship with financial support.  

In conclusion, Mr. Khawajayouf promised to help provide the required facilities, eliminate the existing problems in the Afghan Private Sector, and improve economic stability.
