Balkh-Istanbul & Europe air corridor inaugurated

Following the continues efforts made by ACCI and relevant government authorities, the Balkh- Istanbul and Europe Air corridor inaugurated by President advisor in finance and banking affairs in this ceremony the Balkh governor, deputy minister of industry and commerce, BCCI CEO/Chairman, Turkish general consul in Balkh province, head of Balkh provincial assembly and dozens of private sector members were participated in this opening event.

The first flight of Air corridor will carry 5 tons of dry fruits (2 tons raisin and 3 tons dry berry) through Turkish Airline to UK- London.

In this opening ceremony the speakers emphasized on Air corridor importance and its role in economic development, especially in export promotion.

It is notable, the first air corridor opened in 2017, from that date until now about 6091.7 tons of goods including  (dry fruit, saffron, pine nut, carpet, medical plant and vegetable) that worth about 107$ million USD, within 399 flights exported to India, china, turkey, Kazakhstan, UAE, Russia, and Europe via private air lines.

Opening new Air corridors between Afghanistan and other countries are one of the optimal and effective option, to boost Afghan export and this air corridors was established based on private sector successive request, under the close cooperation and special consideration of government, specially his excellency President of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.

ACCI in addition to appreciate the GOIRA, in order to facilitate and taking need actions to open this new air corridor, the role of other line ministries/authorities are key in holding close and concrete coordination between office of the president advisor in finance and banking affairs, Customs, Airport and border police department, private air lines and other stakeholders are essential in promoting afghan exports abroad.
