Mr. Tawakal Ahmadyar, Director General of (ACCI) video conference with Deputy Chief of Mission of the U.S. Embassy in Kabul

Through this video conference, they discussed on the role of the private sector in fighting the spread coronavirus and its negative socio-economic effects on trade and investment in the country. As well as, they exchanged ideas on cooperation of Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment with the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan as a joint effort to further prevent the spread of this deadly virus in the country.

Director General of ACCI also noted the active role of the Afghan traders in distributing essential goods for the needy people of the country, medical equipment to the Ministry of Public Health and disinfection of cities in cooperation with the municipalities.

Taking in to consideration the current economic situation of the country, he also emphasized on the importance of enterprise, investments, business activities and taking necessary actions in order to improve the current situation and to provide facilities to Afghan traders in terms exporting and importing goods. As well as, to support investors and strengthen the role of the private sector on economic development of the country.

The reopening of doors between Afghanistan and Pakistan was also discussed through this video conference, which was made possible with the cooperation of Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment and the Afghanistan government.

Mr. Seyed Zaman Hashemi, Chief Executive Officer ACCI and Ms. Afsana Rahimi Chair of AWCCI  and a number of private companies directors were also attended the video conference and provided with  the necessary information relevant  their areas of work to the video conference participants.

Deputy Chief of Mission of the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, reaffirmed the US government's support for the growth of Afghanistan's private sector and keeping continued talks with the sector, and also promised on their continued support for resolving trade transit issues with Pakistan.

At the end of the video conference, the Director General of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment thanked US Embassy in Kabul for their supporting and cooperating in developing of the private sector and improving the business environment in Afghanistan.
