The Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment (ACCI), in line with its efforts to strengthen the role of the private sector in the growth and development of Afghanistan's agriculture and livestock sectors, established the Specialized Committee for Agricultural Trade and Investment. Comprising a number of traders, investors, and sector specialists, the committee has officially commenced its activities as one of ACCI's specialized Board committees.
The committee was inaugurated during a meeting held at the conference hall of ACCI's headquarters, attended by Mr. Mujib Rahman Shirzad, Deputy for Strategic Relations; Mr. Matiullah Gardizi, Member of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Specialized Committee for Agricultural Trade and Investment; Mr. Zainullah Hassany, Deputy for Finance and Administration and Acting Chief Executive Officer; along with a number of traders and stakeholders from the agricultural sector.
In his remarks, Mr. Shirzad highlighted the vital role of the private sector in the development of agriculture and emphasized the need to create greater investment opportunities in this field. He identified the development and distribution of certified improved seeds, the establishment of modern specialized laboratories, increased investment in the production and value addition of Afghanistan's organic agricultural products, and the modernization of agricultural processing and packaging as key priorities of the committee.
Mr. Gardizi expressed his appreciation for the confidence placed in him by ACCI's leadership, describing agriculture and livestock as the backbone of Afghanistan's economy. He pledged to work closely with committee members and sector experts to strengthen agricultural services, promote investment, increase production, and support the sustainable development of the sector.
During the meeting, Mr. Mohammad Tahir Shoaib was introduced as the Deputy Chairman, and Mr. Abdul Qahir Momand was appointed as the Secretary of the Specialized Committee for Agricultural Trade and Investment.
According to the committee's work plan, it will convene at least one regular meeting every month with the participation of traders, investors, and stakeholders from the agriculture and livestock sectors to discuss challenges, opportunities, and strategies for the sector's development.
ACCI currently operates 20 specialized committees, each bringing together experts and representatives from different economic sectors. These committees hold regular technical meetings aimed at promoting investment, creating employment opportunities, increasing national income, addressing sectoral challenges, and supporting Afghanistan's overall economic development.

As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen economic relations and expand trade cooperation, Mr. Faiz Ahmad Khawafi, Deputy Chairman for Provincial Affairs of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment (ACCI), accompanied by Mr. Kamal Nabizada, a Member of the ACCI Board of Directors, travelled to Balkh Province on Monday, 27 July, together with a trade delegation from Uzbekistan's Fergana Region, led by the Governor of the region, Mr. Khayrullo Bozorov.
The visit reflected the shared commitment of Afghanistan and Uzbekistan to expanding trade and transit relations while creating new investment opportunities across the region. Upon their arrival at Mawlana Jalaluddin Balkhi International Airport, the delegation received a warm welcome from Mr. Mohammad Ibrahim Ghazanfar, Chairman of the Balkh Chamber of Commerce and Investment, and the Deputy Governor of Balkh Province. The delegation then visited the Fergana Products Exhibition in Mazar-e-Sharif. The exhibition provided an excellent opportunity to showcase the region's economic potential and production capabilities while fostering closer cooperation between the business communities of both countries.
The delegation later participated in an important meeting at the Office of the Governor of Balkh, attended by the Governor of Balkh Province, Mr. Khayrullo Bozorov, Governor of Fergana Region, Mr. Faiz Ahmad Khawafi, Mr. Kamal Nabi Zada, Mr. Mohammad Ibrahim Ghazanfar, Chairman of the Fergana Chamber of Commerce, and five Deputy District Governors from Fergana Region. Discussions focused on expanding bilateral trade, facilitating visa issuance for traders, promoting joint investments, and enhancing transit cooperation. The active participation of the Governors of Balkh and Fergana, members of the Chambers' Boards of Directors, local officials, traders, and investors reflected the strong determination of both sides to deepen regional economic cooperation.
In his remarks, Mr. Khawafi described the visit of the Fergana trade delegation, together with previous exchanges between regional business representatives, as a clear demonstration of the shared commitment of Afghanistan and Uzbekistan to promoting trade and investment. He expressed confidence that the visit would pave the way for increased bilateral trade, new investment opportunities, and stronger economic cooperation between other provinces of Afghanistan and neighboring regions of Uzbekistan.
During a joint press conference held at the Continental Hall in Balkh, the ACCI Deputy Chairman for Provincial Affairs, the Governor of Balkh, and the Fergana trade delegation highlighted the significance and achievements of the visit. On the sidelines of the event, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Balkh Chamber of Commerce and Investment and the Fergana Chamber of Commerce. In addition, 13 commercial agreements, valued at more than US$35million, were concluded between traders and business representatives from both sides across various sectors.
These achievements reflect the strong commitment of both parties to expanding regional cooperation, increasing trade and transit, and strengthening economic ties. It is expected that the continuation of this cooperation will further promote investment opportunities, improve regional transit infrastructure, expand economic activities, and advance the shared interests of both countries.

As part of its efforts to strengthen and expand its specialized institutional structures, the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment (ACCI) officially inaugurated its Specialized Food Committee. The committee has been established to address challenges facing the food sector, promote high-quality production, and help ensure the sustainable supply of food products to the domestic market. During the ceremony, the Chairman and members of the committee's leadership were formally introduced to the country's business and industrial community.
The inauguration ceremony was held at ACCI's conference hall and attended by members of the Chamber's leadership, traders, and stakeholders from the food sector. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Mujib Rahman Shirzad, ACCI Deputy Chairman for Strategic Relations, welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of establishing such a committee to support the food industry and improve the quality and availability of food products across the country.
Mr. Shirzad emphasized the strategic importance of the food sector, stating: "Ensuring the supply of high-quality food products at reasonable prices, improving processing and packaging in line with international standards, and establishing strategic reserves are among our key priorities. By focusing on resolving the challenges faced by traders and enhancing production, this committee can play a significant role in improving market conditions and promoting public welfare."
During the event, Mr. Wahidullah Azizi, Chairman of the Specialized Food Committee and Member of the ACCI Board of Directors, expressed his appreciation for the confidence placed in him by the Chamber's leadership. He pledged to work diligently to advance the sector, meet the needs of the public, and help resolve the challenges facing food traders. He also reaffirmed the committee's commitment to close cooperation with ACCI and relevant government institutions, adding: "We are committed to supporting the growth of domestic production while facilitating the import of quality food products at competitive prices."
Mr. Younus Qazizada, Member of the ACCI Board of Directors, congratulated the committee's leadership and noted that Mr. Azizi's more than 20 years of experience in the western region of Afghanistan provides him with the expertise required to lead the sector at the national level.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Mr. Homayoun Khwajazada and Mr. Abdul Wahid Wahidi were appointed as Deputy Chairmen of the committee, while Mr. Ibrahim Sakhizada was appointed as the Committee Secretary.
The establishment of the Specialized Food Committee reflects ACCI's strong commitment to supporting Afghanistan's food sector by creating an effective platform to improve product quality, help stabilize prices, and strengthen the country's food security. The Chamber expressed its hope that, through close cooperation among all stakeholders, the committee will contribute to sustainable development and lasting improvements in Afghanistan's food market.

A consultative meeting was held at the main office of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment (ACCI) with the participation of Mr. Arian Zalgai Azimi, Deputy Chairman for Investment Affairs of ACCI; Mr. Abdul Nafi Barakzai, Deputy Chairman for Domestic Production and Product Support; Mr. Mujib Rahman Shirzad, Deputy Chairman for Strategic Relations; Esmatullah Ansar, Deputy Head of Kabul Municipality's Market Regulation Directorate and Acting Head of the Commission for the Prevention of Hoarding and Control of Primary Commodity Prices; members of the Commission; and representatives of the Kabul Fuel Tank Operators' Association.
At the outset of the meeting, Mr. Azimi spoke in detail about the concerns and challenges previously raised by petroleum suppliers, particularly fuel tank operators, with the ACCI leadership. He urged the representatives of the fuel tank operators to take into account the current market conditions and global fuel price trends while also considering the interests of consumers by supplying petroleum products at fair and reasonable prices.
Subsequently, Mr. Allah Mohammad Ahmadzai, Chairman of the Kabul Fuel Tank Operators' Association, presented the concerns of fuel tank operators on behalf of the sector and stressed that the existing challenges should be thoroughly assessed before fuel prices are determined.
Representatives of petroleum suppliers and members of the Kabul Fuel Tank Operators' Association also took turns presenting their concerns and raising their questions during the meeting.
After listening to the views and concerns expressed by the participants, Mr. Esmatullah Ansar assured them that their issues would be addressed by the Commission and the relevant government authorities. He also requested that fuel suppliers implement the official price list issued by the Commission.
In his concluding remarks, Mr. Mujib Rahman Shirzad summarized the key challenges facing petroleum suppliers, particularly fuel tank operators. He stated that ACCI would review the issues in accordance with the existing procedures and newly proposed mechanisms and, in coordination with the relevant government authorities, would take the necessary steps to facilitate appropriate solutions.
At the conclusion of the meeting, it was agreed that the Kabul Fuel Tank Operators' Association would submit its concerns to ACCI in writing. Following a comprehensive assessment, the Chamber will present specific recommendations to the relevant government authorities to facilitate the resolution of the identified challenges.

Mr. Sayed Karim Hashemi, Chairman of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment (ACCI), accompanied by the Chamber's Deputy Chairmen, including Mr. Arian Zalgai Azimi, Deputy Chairman for Investment, Mr. Enayatullah Siddiqzai, Deputy Chairman for Services, Mr. Abdul Nafi Barakzai, Deputy Chairman for the Support of Domestic Production and Products, and Mr. Nejabat Haidari, Member of the Board of Directors, met with Mr. Ghulam Qadir Sakhizada, Deputy Head of the Afghanistan Carpet Dealers Association, at the ACCI main office.
During the meeting, the participants held comprehensive discussions on the challenges facing the export of Afghan carpets and explored practical solutions to overcome existing obstacles.
The Chairman of ACCI commended the dedication and hard work of Afghanistan's carpet weavers and manufacturers, emphasizing that carpet traders and exporters can play a key role in increasing exports by adopting modern marketing methods, expanding production, organizing national and international exhibitions, and strengthening global marketing efforts. He noted that such initiatives would not only boost Afghanistan's carpet exports but also contribute to supporting the country's carpet weaving sector and producers through both material and moral assistance, while enhancing the export of Afghan products as a whole.
The meeting also recognized the active and constructive role of the Afghanistan Carpet Dealers Association during the Afghan–Uzbek Business Forum. The Association's meaningful participation in the event was described as an important step toward strengthening bilateral trade relations and promoting Afghanistan's carpet industry.
Its presence at the forum provided an excellent opportunity to showcase the quality and potential of Afghan carpets while opening new avenues for cooperation and expanding access to regional and international markets.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Mr. Sakhizada, Deputy Head of the Afghanistan Carpet Dealers Association, expressed his appreciation for the valuable remarks of Mr. Hashemi, Chairman of ACCI, and Mr. Zalgai Azimi, Deputy Chairman for Investment. He thanked the Chamber's leadership for their continued support and for creating effective opportunities to promote carpet exports, reaffirming the Association's commitment to continued cooperation with ACCI.
