On 20th/October/2020, Mr. Tawakal Ahmadyar ACCI’s Director-General, Haji Muhammad Younus Muhmand First Deputy of the board of directors, Khan Muhammad Sarfaraz Baz head of the secretariate of the board of directors, Sayed Jawid Burhan head of the international relations of the board of directors, Mr. Sherin Aghan Sakhi head of the finance of the board of directors, Khan Jan Alokzay, Azarakhash Hafizi, Asmatullah Wardak, Zakaria Baryali, Muhammad Dawood Yousufzay, and Haji Muhammad Gardezay, members of the board of directors, and Mr. Sayed Zaman Hashimi CEO of the ACCI met with the investor, gas committee’s representative, commercial chamber, and commercial delegation of Ukraine and had a discussion about mutual commercial and investment relations of both countries.
Mr. Tawakal Ahmadyar welcomed Ukrainian commercial delegation and talked about the current investing opportunities in Afghanistan. He furthermore said, “Considering the existing investment opportunities, I hope that both countries would strive to build strong commercial relations.”
Ukrainian commercial delegation showed its interest in the following: investment in poultry, processing the fresh and dry fruits of Afghanistan and importing it to Ukraine, exporting Ukrainian medicine and steel industries to Afghanistan, and establishing a joint commercial chamber.
Mr. Tawakal Ahmadyar said that to have strong commercial relations, establishing this joint commercial chamber is important, and he also pointed out the MoU signed for the same purpose earlier. He, furthermore, said, “After having this joint chamber built, commercial delegations of both countries can then travel to each country and can work for the expansion of mutual commercial relations.”
Mr. Azrakhash Hafizi welcomed the participants of the meeting and added that leaders of the private sectors require strong coordination and cooperation in the region. He affirmed that facilitating the issuance of visas for the expansion and development of the economy in the region is necessary. And we all have to work together to strengthen cooperation and coordination in the region.
Mr. Tawakal Ahmadyar thanked the First Vice President of the country for holding regular meetings and providing solutions for the problems of the private sector.
Mr. Khan Jan Alokozy said that besides providing better services for the people especially on motorways of the country, the Gas Stations constitute the main part of the private sector. However, without the services of this sector, the chances of activity for other sectors seem to be impossible.
Mr. Hashimi said that using the TIR Carnet system with the neighbor and regional countries is a good privilege, although, Afghanistan has issued 176 TIR Carnet during the past eight years and has not been able to use this system the way it should have been used and the reason is the lack of cooperation of the customs of the country.
