ACCI Chairman Emphasizes Responsible Mining as a Key Driver of Economic Growth and Domestic Industrial Development at Afghanistan’s First Mining Exhibition

Mr. Sayed Karim Hashemi, Chairman of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment, accompanied by members of the Chamber’s leadership, attended the opening ceremony of Afghanistan’s First Specialized Mining Exhibition. The event was held in the presence of senior officials of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, including Mr. Mawlawi Abdul Salam Hanafi, Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs; Mr. Hedayatullah Badri, Minister of Mines and Petroleum; Mr. Nooruddin Azizi, Minister of Industry and Commerce; and a number of private-sector representatives, domestic and international traders, and investors.

In his address, Mr. Hashemi congratulated the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum on organizing the exhibition and commended its efforts to showcase Afghanistan’s mineral potential.

Highlighting the country’s extensive mineral resources, he described mines as part of Afghanistan’s national wealth and a trust for present and future generations. He emphasized that these resources must be developed with prudence, transparency, and responsibility to create employment opportunities, promote domestic industries, strengthen the national economy, and contribute to the country’s development.

The ACCI Chairman described the exhibition as a valuable opportunity to showcase Afghanistan’s mineral potential and expand cooperation among the government, the private sector, traders, and domestic and international investors. He expressed hope that the event would pave the way for effective investment, practical cooperation, and the exchange of knowledge and technology in the mining sector.

Mr. Hashemi further stressed that mineral resources can deliver sustainable economic benefits only when national interests, environmental protection, and the rights of citizens and local communities are taken into account. He noted that close cooperation between the government and the private sector can help transform the country’s mineral resources into productive opportunities, generate employment, promote self-sufficiency, and improve public welfare.

He reaffirmed that ACCI stands ready to play an active role in strengthening economic cooperation, attracting investment, and facilitating the constructive participation of traders and investors in the mining sector.

Concluding his remarks, the ACCI Chairman thanked the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum for organizing the exhibition and underscored the importance of mutual trust, joint cooperation, and the responsible use of the country’s economic potential.

The exhibition was also attended by Mr. Mirajan Sulaimankhail, Deputy Chairman of ACCI for Policy and Government Relations, and Mr. Zamari Kamgar and Mr. Khalid Majid, members of ACCI’s Board of Directors.
