Expanding economic cooperation between Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan and arranging a visit by an Afghan business delegation to Kyrgyzstan were the main topics discussed during a meeting in Kabul between the Chief Executive Officer of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment and the Kyrgyz Ambassador to Afghanistan.
Mr. Mohammad Jebran Mudassir, Chief Executive Officer of ACCI, met with Mr. Tordakan Sydykov, Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to Afghanistan, to discuss strengthening trade and investment relations between the two countries, facilitating private-sector engagement, and creating opportunities for an Afghan business delegation to visit Kyrgyzstan.
During the meeting, Mr. Mudassir highlighted Kyrgyzstan’s economic and production capacities, particularly in grain production, describing the country as an important regional trading partner for Afghanistan. He reaffirmed ACCI’s interest in expanding bilateral cooperation and assured the Ambassador that the Chamber would provide all necessary support to facilitate direct engagement between traders and investors from both countries.
Referring to existing opportunities in trade, investment, and tourism, the ACCI Chief Executive Officer also proposed organizing a trade and tourism visit for an Afghan private-sector delegation to Kyrgyzstan. The proposed visit would aim to strengthen commercial relations and provide Afghan traders with an opportunity to gain a closer understanding of the Kyrgyz market.
He added that such a visit would enable Afghan traders and investors to explore Kyrgyzstan’s production capacities, commercial facilities, and investment opportunities firsthand, while identifying potential areas for joint cooperation and practical future initiatives.
In response, Mr. Sydykov welcomed the proposals and emphasized the importance of expanding trade relations between the two countries. He pledged to coordinate with the relevant institutions in Kyrgyzstan to help facilitate the proposed visit by the Afghan trade and investment delegation.
At the conclusion of the meeting, it was agreed that ACCI would prepare a list of traders and investors interested in participating in the visit and submit it through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Kyrgyz Embassy in Kabul, enabling the necessary coordination for the visit programs and business meetings.
