The monthly meeting of the Specialized Committee of Oil and Gas Station Owners of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment was held with the participation of Mr. Haji Zabihullah Omarkhel, Head of the Secretariat of ACCI’s Executive Board; Mr. Haji Masoud Rahat, Chairman of the committee; and its members. The meeting discussed existing challenges in the oil and gas sector, tax administration, the standardization of fuel stations, and technical issues requiring attention.

At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Haji Masoud Rahat outlined the agenda and described ACCI as a bridge between the government and the private sector. He urged committee members to present their concerns and recommendations clearly and specifically so that the issues could be addressed through official channels, paving the way for sustainable solutions and improved public services.

Mr. Rahat also referred to the directive issued by the leadership of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan concerning the modernization and standardization of fuel stations, particularly those located along the Ring Road and the country’s main highways. He emphasized that, under this directive, all fuel stations are required to provide safety equipment as well as essential facilities for travelers, including separate mosques and ablution facilities for men and women.

The committee members subsequently discussed differences in taxation and the absence of fixed price lists at gas sales outlets. They called for the establishment and implementation of a systematic and consistent tax system for this sector.

Technical problems affecting several heavy-duty weighbridges used to determine the weight of tanker trucks were another key topic. Expressing concern over the existing issues, committee members emphasized the need for timely inspections and the correction of technical deficiencies in these weighing systems.

At the conclusion of the meeting, other technical matters related to the operations of oil and gas station owners were also reviewed. Committee members shared their views and recommendations aimed at improving operations and addressing existing challenges.
