Mr. Mujib-ul-Rahman Shirzad, Deputy for Strategic Affairs of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment (ACCI), met with Mr. Mawlawi Abdul Rasheed Rashid, Mayor of Kabul, to discuss matters related to traders and shopkeepers in the city.
During the meeting, a number of challenges and concerns faced by traders and shopkeepers at the Tahiya Maskan Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Market, located in District 4 of Kabul, were raised, and ways to address these issues were discussed and exchanged.
During the meeting, Mr. Najabat Haidari, Member of the Board of Directors, along with representatives of traders and shopkeepers at the fresh fruit and vegetable market, shared their concerns with the Mayor regarding the determination and payment of shop rents, rental fees for rooms on the second floor of the market, arrangements concerning the ownership and use of shops, and the sealing of certain shops by Kabul Municipality officials.
The market representatives emphasized that addressing these issues and strengthening coordination between the relevant authorities and traders could contribute to improving the business environment, preventing disruptions to commercial activities, and ensuring better order and organization within the market.
After listening to the concerns and views of the traders’ and shopkeepers’ representatives, Mr. Mawlawi Abdul Rasheed Rashid, Mayor of Kabul, provided the necessary explanations regarding the issues raised and emphasized the importance of addressing them responsibly.
The Mayor of Kabul also instructed the relevant municipal officials to review the issues raised and take the necessary measures to address the concerns of traders and shopkeepers within the framework of applicable laws, principles, and regulations.
Mr. Mujib-ul-Rahman Shirzad, Deputy for Strategic Affairs of ACCI, also reaffirmed the Chamber’s commitment to following up on the concerns and legitimate demands of the business community and working to strengthen coordination between the private sector and government institutions.
The Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment continues to work through legal channels with relevant institutions to raise the challenges and concerns of economic stakeholders and supports the creation of a suitable environment for commercial activities, investment, and business development in the country.
