A meeting was held at the main office of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment (ACCI), where Mr. Arian Zalgai Azimi, Deputy Chairman for Investment, Mr. Mirajan Sulaimankhil, Deputy Chairman for Policy and Government Relations, and Mr. Enayatullah Sediqzai, Deputy Chairman for Services, met with members of the Afghanistan Dried Fruit Exporters Association.
At the beginning of the meeting, members of the Association presented their views, proposals, and concerns. Mr. Nisar Ahmad, Mr. Nasir Ahmad, Mr. Rahmatullah, and Mr. Mohammad Ishaq emphasized that Afghanistan's dried fruit sector is not only one of the country's major export industries but also one of its largest sources of employment, providing jobs and livelihoods for thousands of Afghan men and women. They noted that the dried fruit export sector generated billions of Afghanis in revenue during 2025, underscoring its vital contribution to Afghanistan's economy.
The Association members also highlighted a number of challenges currently affecting the sector, particularly the impact of the conflict in Iran, which has left hundreds of tons of Afghan dried fruit stranded. These shipments had been destined for more than 30 European countries and the United States.
After carefully listening to the concerns and recommendations presented by the Association, the ACCI Deputy Chairmen acknowledged the existing challenges and provided detailed explanations and professional assessments, addressing the participants' concerns and offering reassurance. Mr. Azimi and Mr. Sulaimankhil discussed several of the Association's requests, pledged to pursue practical and sustainable solutions, and called on all Afghan traders and investors to stand united during the current challenging circumstances and work collectively to address the country's economic and food security needs.
At the conclusion of the meeting, participants reaffirmed their commitment to working together to resolve the existing challenges and to continue strengthening this vital export sector, which plays a significant role in Afghanistan's economic development.
