Extraordinary Meeting of the Executive Committee of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment Held

An extraordinary meeting of the Executive Committee of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment (ACCI) was held at the Chamber's main office under the chairmanship of Mr. Sayed Karim Hashemi, Chairman of ACCI. The meeting was attended by Mr. Mirajan Sulaimankhil, Deputy Chairman for Policy and Government Relations; Mr. Faiz Ahmad Khawafi, Deputy Chairman for Provincial Affairs; Mr. Habibullah Omar, Deputy Chairman for Social and Cultural Affairs; Haji Arian Zalgai Azimi, Deputy Chairman for Investment; Mr. Enayatullah Sediqzai, Deputy Chairman for Services; Mr. Abdul Nafi Barakzai, Deputy Chairman for Support of Domestic Products and Productions; Mr. Zabihullah Omarkhail, Secretary General of the Board of Directors; Zainullah Hasani, Deputy for Finance and Administration and Acting CEO of the Executive Board; and Ahmad Shakeel Hazim, Deputy for Policy and Technical Affairs of the Executive Board.

At the outset of the meeting, Mr. Hashemi highlighted the necessity of convening the extraordinary session to discuss the establishment of the position of Deputy Chairman for Strategic Relations within the Board of Directors. He noted that, in view of the Chamber's expanding responsibilities, the need to accelerate institutional reforms and modernization, strengthen coordination between the Board of Directors and the Executive Board, ensure effective follow-up of decisions, and support the Chairman in carrying out strategic responsibilities, the creation of this position was both important and essential.

The participants then held comprehensive discussions on the agenda, which included the establishment of the Deputy Chairman for Strategic Relations position within the Board structure, the nomination of five members of the Dry Fruits Union to the Board of Directors, the establishment of an ACCI branch in Sar-e-Pul Province, the closure of the Salang Highway to heavy-load vehicles, the formation of one or more technical committees, the establishment of a joint Afghanistan–China railway consortium, the recruitment process for the Chief Executive Officer of the Executive Board, and ensuring the supply of high-quality petroleum products and gas to meet the country's market demand.

Following detailed deliberations, Mr. Mujib Rahman Shirzad, son of Miagul Khan, was appointed as a Member of the Board of Directors and, simultaneously, as Deputy Chairman for Strategic Relations, in recognition of his academic qualifications, professional expertise, and extensive experience.

The Executive Committee also adopted the necessary decisions regarding the remaining agenda items discussed during the meeting.
