ACCI Chairman Meets with Head of Petroleum Quality Control

Mr. Sayed Karim Hashemi, Chairman of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment (ACCI), met yesterday afternoon with Mr. Mohammad Ibrahim Khalil, Head of Petroleum Quality Control under the Customs Deputy Office of the Ministry of Finance, at the ACCI headquarters.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Mirajan Sulaimankhail, ACCI Deputy for Policy and Government Relations; Mr. Sulaiman Ahmadyar and Mr. Mayel Khairkhwa members of the ACCI Board of Directors; and a number of petroleum importers. Discussions focused on improving the process of importing high-quality petroleum products into Afghanistan and addressing related sectoral issues.
Mr. Hashemi expressed his appreciation for the efforts and cooperation of the Petroleum Quality Control Directorate in addressing the concerns of petroleum traders. He also highlighted several existing challenges at commercial border crossings, customs offices, and petroleum quality control laboratories, emphasizing that resolving these issues is particularly important given the region's current economic conditions.
Following the discussion and after listening to the views and recommendations of the ACCI Chairman and the participating traders, Mr. Mohammad Ibrahim Khalil provided a comprehensive briefing on the technical operations and procedures of the petroleum quality control system. He also commended the leadership of ACCI for its constructive efforts to help resolve challenges between petroleum traders and the Petroleum Quality Control Directorate.
He further stressed that both the private sector and government institutions share a common responsibility to serve the country and its people and should work in accordance with applicable laws and regulations to ensure that the importation of petroleum products into Afghanistan is carried out in a safe, orderly, and efficient manner.
