Mr. Sayed Karim Hashemi, Chairman of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment (ACCI) met with Mr. Jeffrey Grieco, Chairman of the Afghanistan-American Joint Chamber of Commerce (AACC) at the ACCI Headquarters.
At the outset of the meeting, Mr. Hashemi welcomed Mr. Grieco and emphasized the importance of expanding economic and trade cooperation between the private sectors of Afghanistan and the United States. He called for closer collaboration between the Afghanistan-American Joint Chamber of Commerce and Afghanistan's private sector.
During the meeting, the ACCI Chairman stressed the importance of establishing direct links between the American and Afghan private sectors, introducing Afghanistan's investment opportunities to American investors and Afghan-Americans residing in the United States, strengthening bilateral trade, and creating greater opportunities for the export of Afghan products to the U.S. market and other international markets.
He also highlighted the importance of fostering direct connections between companies, traders, and investors from both countries, promoting cooperation in technology transfer, management expertise, and successful business practices, as well as supporting entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized enterprises.
Furthermore, he emphasized the need for the release of Afghanistan's frozen assets, which belong to the Afghan people, and called for cooperation and support in this regard.
In response, Mr. Jeffrey Grieco expressed the full readiness of the Afghanistan-American Joint Chamber of Commerce to cooperate closely with ACCI and stated that a number of American companies are interested in investing in Afghanistan's mining sector. He described ACCI's role in building business partnerships and facilitating connections between companies from the two countries as important and effective.
Mr. Grieco also noted that a large delegation of American traders and investors is expected to participate in an upcoming economic event in Uzbekistan. He invited the Chairman of ACCI to meet with the delegation and present Afghanistan's investment opportunities and prospects for economic cooperation.
