Afghan–Kyrgyz Business Forum Held in Kabul

The Afghan–Kyrgyz Business Forum between the private sectors of Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan was held at Kabul Grand Hotel with the participation of MR. Nooruddin Azizi, Minister of Industry and Commerce; Alhaj Sayed Karim Hashemi, Chairman of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment; the Minister of Industry and Trade of Kyrgyzstan; Deputy Ministers of Transport and Energy of Kyrgyzstan; deputy heads and board members of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment; heads of the Chambers of Industry and Mines, Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, Artisans; and representatives of the private sectors of Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan.

The conference was organized with the aim of developing and strengthening joint trade relations between the private sectors of the two countries, attracting investments, and introducing production capacities.

Mr. Nooruddin Azizi, Minister of Industry and Commerce, described Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan as good friends with strong trade relations and stated that Kyrgyzstan serves as an important transit link for Afghanistan. He emphasized that the establishment of a Joint Kyrgyz Trade House in Afghanistan would be significant in facilitating transit, identifying investment opportunities, and increasing trade volumes between the two countries.

Mr. Alhaj Sayed Karim Hashemi, Chairman of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment, welcomed the participants and described Afghanistan’s geographical position as a bridge connecting Central Asia with South Asia. He stressed that this strategic location has turned Afghanistan into one of the most important transit and trade routes in the region.

Mr. Hashemi added that Afghanistan provides a favorable environment for investment, noting that the country is rich in natural resources, including gold, copper, lithium, oil, coal, precious and semi-precious stones. He also highlighted Afghanistan’s vast potential for solar, hydrothermal energy production and extensive agricultural land. He expressed hope that businesspeople from both countries would effectively utilize these opportunities and invest in various sectors.

The Chairman of the Chamber described Kyrgyzstan as an economic, trade, and transit partner of Afghanistan, and stated that the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment serves as a bridge to facilitate cooperation, remove investment barriers, and organize exhibitions between the private sectors of the two countries.

Mr. Bekit Sydykov, Minister of Economy and Trade of Kyrgyzstan, stated that trade relations between Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan have improved over the past two years. He added that 15 Kyrgyz companies from various sectors—particularly state-owned manufacturing companies, transit and trading firms, private banks, machinery manufacturing, and textiles—participated in the business networking conference. He described Afghanistan as a key transit link between Central Asia and South Asia and an important economic partner of Kyrgyzstan.

It is worth noting that during the conference, memorandums of understanding worth more than USD 157 million were signed between the private sectors of the two countries in the fields of pharmaceuticals, raw materials, logistics, construction, and decoration.
