Afghan–Turkish Business Forum Held on the Sidelines of the Istanbul Halal Expo

Turkey – Afghanistan Business Forum and B2B Meetings was held on the sidelines of the International Halal Expo in Istanbul, with the participation of Mr. Alhaj Habibullah Omar, Deputy for Social and Cultural Affairs of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment; Mr. Alhaj Zabihullah Omarkhail, Head of the Secretariat of the Chamber’s Board of Directors; Mohammad Wali Amini, Director of the Executive Board of the Chamber; the Consul General of Afghanistan in Turkey; the Head of the Office of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce; the Head of the Afghanistan–Turkey Joint Business Council; as well as Afghan and Turkish traders and investors.

Mr. Omar delivered the message of Mr. Alhaj Sayed Karim Hashemi, Chairm of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment, which had been sent to the Turkey – Afghanistan Business Forum and B2B Meetings. In his message, Mr. Hashemi described Turkey as a long-standing friend and a reliable partner of Afghanistan, emphasizing relations between the two nations based on shared Islamic and cultural values, mutual respect, and trade and economic development. He added: “Afghanistan and Turkey, with a shared understanding of regional markets, economic capacities, and trade needs, can take more effective and significant steps toward expanding cooperation.”

In his message, the Chairman of the Chamber expressed appreciation to Turkey’s DEIK organization and the organizers of the exhibition and business networking conference, describing the organization of such programs as important for introducing Afghan products, expanding exports, and attracting investment. He also highlighted Afghanistan’s significant potential in the sectors of agriculture, mining, halal production, trade, and transit, stating that “Turkey can be an important partner in making better use of these capacities.”

Following the remarks by officials, Afghan and Turkish traders held discussions across various sectors, addressing issues such as increasing export and import volumes, developing markets for halal products, establishing new transit routes, joint investment opportunities, exchanging experience in production and packaging, and participation in future exhibitions and business meetings.
