Mr. Atiqullah Nusrat CEO and Mr. Hashem Rasouli Director of International Relations of Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI) met with Excellency Avazbek Abdurazakov ambassador and Mr. Azmat consul of Kyrgyzstan in Afghanistan aimed at discussing expansion of business, investment and transit relations between the two countries.
While Pointing out to the level of export and import among the two countries Mr. Nusrat stressed that the current level of trade turnover is not satisfactory. Hence the Chambers of commerce and industries of the two countries are obliged to expand the business relations among Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan through organizing business forums and exhibitions. Moreover he spoke about economic capabilities of Kyrgyzstan in agriculture, industry, cement and oil sectors and called for huge Kyrgyz investment in Afghanistan.
Furthermore Mr. Nusrat urged the ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to facilitate the visa issuance for Afghan traders and issuance of Road pass permits for Afghan truck through diplomatic authorities of the both countries.
While welcoming the delegation of ACCI Mr. Abdurazakov said that embassy of Kyrgyzstan was established three years ago in Afghanistan. He also shed a light on drafts of four economic agreements, which are considered as base for expansion of bilateral relation among the two countries, and expressed hope that inking the agreements by both states will help in expansion of trade, investment and transit.
The agreements are:
- Road Transport Agreement
- Trade Agreement
- Investment Encouragement and Support Agreement
- Double Taxation
But unfortunately there was no response from Afghan Ministries in regard to these agreements. The ministry of commerce and industries of Afghanistan has only worked on Trade Agreement and has changed 70 percent of its contents, which was unfortunately unacceptable for the ministry of commerce of Kyrgyzstan.
Finally it was mutually agreed that ACCI will follow up the finalizing of agreement with relevant ministries of Afghanistan in order to make sure that suitable environment in created for expanding the business ties.
Both parties stressed on establishment of Afghanistan – Kyrgyzstan joint commission where the CEOs of both chambers will be surely active members of the joint commission.
Additionally both sides emphasized that Chambers of commerce and industries of both countries should play vital role in strengthening the economic ties among the two countries through signing MOUs toward exchange of business information, organizing Afghanistan – Kyrgyzstan annual business match making conferences and exhibitions.
