ACCI and ACBF Sign a Memorandum of Understanding

ACCI and Afghanistan – Canada Business Federation (ACBF) signed a MoU in order to enhance trade, investment and bilateral cooperation and pave the way for joint venture between the two countries. On behalf of ACCI, Mr. Abdul Qadir Bahman Deputy CEO of ACCI and on behalf of ACBF, Mr. Akbar Toufan Deputy CEO of ACBF signed the MOU in attendance of Dr. Ghulam R. Nayab Afghan Commercial Attaché to Canada on 16 December 2014 in Toronto, Canada.

This MoU was signed for further increasing of bilateral economic relationship by involving the wide range of actors like governmental and nongovernmental organizations from the national and sub-national level, in this process as well as the companies and enterprises from different economic sectors.

ACCI and ACBF will work together to promote the foundation of joint ventures in order to attract more foreign investments to Afghanistan. And will eliminate barriers impeding bilateral trade and economic cooperation through holding regular consultations meetings.

Based on the MoU, both parties will organize exhibitions, fairs and informational events and create necessary conditions active participation of companies, enterprises and organizations from Canada and Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. And will assist companies, enterprises and organizations from both countries to obtain business visas from their respective embassies. And if required, both parties will provide visa invitation letters.

Under the MoU both parties agree to designate a specific person or desk within their respective organizations to effectively exchange trade, investment information and fully facilitate business and investment opportunities between the two countries.

According to the MoU both parties have agreed that ACBF will represent ACCI in Canada and both will promote ACBF as the Joint Chamber of Commerce.

Furthermore in order to strengthen the cooperation between both countries, the parties will organize at least one annual business to business Conference in Canada. And work on organizing seminars, symposiums, conferences, workshops, meetings involving the business community in cooperation of the competent authorities.

It’s worth mentioning that, all coordination of the task have been conducted by Dr. Ghulam R. Nayab Afghan Commercial Attaché to Canada. Hereby, ACCI appreciates him for his tireless efforts in coordinating for the task. By his efforts, new economic relationship chapter between Afghanistan and Canada has begun and ACCI does believe that business community of two countries will see the tangible outcomes soon.
