25 Afghan Exhibitors Attend IITF, 2014

25 Afghan companies introduced by ACCI, attended the 34th India International Trade Fair (IITF) and showcased fresh and dried fruits, carpet, handicraft and saffron through Afghanistan’s Pavilion. The Fair is held in Paragati Maidan, New Delhi and is open to public from 14 – 27 November 2014. The India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO) organizes IITF each year.

It is biggest commercial event take place in India each year and approximately one million people visit the Fair daily. IITF, 2014 is attended by 6800 exhibitors from 25 countries.

Afghanistan’s Pavilion is one of most popular pavilions in the Fair. This year, the pavilion was opened by Afghan Ambassador to India, Export and Industry Promotion Director of ACCI, Director of Exhibitions and Growth Economic Department of MoCI and representative of Ministry of Women Affairs.

The Afghan Ambassador urged ACCI to create Afghan Business Council in India toward providing facilitation for traders as well as increase trade volume between two countries.

In addition, Export Promotion Director of ACCI pointed out the challenges facing Afghan traders in India. The Ambassador urged the Commercial Attaché to address the challenges and find out the applicable solutions in consultation with ACCI.

It’s noteworthy that since 2007 ACCI has been sending Afghan companies to IITF. Afghanistan’s Pavilion has gotten Golden Award for its best decoration at 2010. Last year, 17 Afghan companies had attended IITF, 2013.
